Faculty Advisor: Alla Hatfield- anh130@psu.edu
My name is Alla Hatfield and I am the Faculty Adviser to the Smeal Student Mentors. I have been working with this exceptional student group since 2014 and it has been the most rewarding and enjoyable part of my job in Smeal! With each new cohort, Mentors continue to impress me with their high standards of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to Penn State community. In 2018, I was honored to receive a Penn State Outstanding Adviser of the Year Award for my work with the organization.
I earned my B.S. in Psychology and my M.Ed. degree in Counselor Education at Penn State. I’ve lived in the area since I graduated, so I certainly bleed blue and white! When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two kids. I also love long distance running and taking my miniature labradoodle on walks. My advising philosophy is that students should consider all possible options when making decisions regarding their education and careers and not be afraid to challenge themselves.
